Global Office is pleased to announce that they have partnered with the San Francisco – Marin Food Bank to fight hunger in the Bay Area.
San Francisco, CA – 04/6/20
Before the pandemic, one in five people was at risk of hunger in San Francisco and Marin, now that the pandemic has upended thousands of people’s lives and livelihoods the need is even greater. As a result, there is a dramatic increase in food insecurity in our community. The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is now serving twice as many households as pre-pandemic.
Global Office is matching donations up to $500 per donation. For every $1 that you give, the Food Bank can provide food for two meals to our neighbors in need. With the donation matching, that becomes four meals.
The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank’s mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin, where one in four neighbors is at risk of hunger. We envision a community where everyone is able to obtain enough nutritious food in a dignified manner to support the health and well-being of themselves and their families. We address hunger head on: from our pantry network and home-delivered groceries, to our nutrition-education classes and food-stamp enrollment, we work in many ways to nourish and empower neighbors in need. Every week, 30,000 households count on us for food assistance. Nearly 60 percent of what we distribute is fresh fruits and vegetables. Learn more at www.sfmfoodbank.org.
Feeding the Front Line & Supporting Healthcare Workers
Global Office is delivering meals and other supplies to Bay Area hospitals
San Francisco, CA – 04/15/20
As the mandatory shelter in place continues in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Global Office staff is delivering meals from local restaurants directly to area hospitals. This provides meals for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who are working under unprecedented conditions.
This donation-funded effort allows Global to purchase meals from local restaurants as they fight to stay in business. Special thanks to The Melt, Kinder’s BBQ, Best Coast Burritos & Slice House by Tony Gemignani for their hard work.
Additionally, we have formed a partnership with Shield Our Heroes 2020 to help manufacture and deliver medical face shields. SOH is a group of designers from IDEO volunteering to design, build, and donate personal protective equipment to healthcare and public service workers around the Bay Area.
Our copier technicians are now assembling face shields with components provided by Shield Our Heroes, increasing the number available for delivery.
“At the moment, we are only providing copier service and support to our ‘essential business’ customers, per the Bay Area’s SIP orders.” Commented Global CEO Steve Tarpley. “We’re very pleased to have an opportunity to re-purpose our resources to support doctors and nurses that are working under very tough conditions.”
